Our founders' journey
Meet Kerry

In the early chapters of my life, I discovered the joy of movement through dance, where every step expressed freedom and aliveness. Dance was more than an activity; it was a way of being, leading to a flourishing career as a professional dancer and performer. The stage became a realm where my emotions were explored and expressed through movement, creating a connection beyond words.

During my time as a dancer and performer I was introduced to some somatic practices like Feldenkrais and the Alexander Technique which opened a new understanding for me on the mind-body connection, emphasising awareness through movement and a deeper understanding of the body's intelligence. This foundation sparked my interest in yoga.

Growing into
my practice

However, the shift from dance to yoga was not immediate. Becoming a parent prompted a re-evaluation of my relationship with movement. After having my first child the physical challenges like recurring back issues, and fatigue signalled a need for change. Encouraged by a friend, I turned to yoga, not just as a practice but as a sanctuary for healing and rediscovery. Yoga reduced my physical pain and reconnected me with a sense of self I thought I'd lost, offering a path to inner peace and strength.

Motivated by yoga's profound impact on my well-being, I undertook a 200- hour teacher training in 2016, followed by a specialised training in restorative yoga, and after this True Yoga was born! Yoga became a calling, reflecting my values of balance and harmony with nature and allowing me to try to live as the most authentic version of myself possible.

A fully fledged
teacher

As a yoga teacher, I aim to share this journey of transformation and awareness. Yoga is presented as a holistic approach to living, encouraging deep self-awareness and compassionate connection. Committed to continuous development, I recently completed a 500-hour advanced teacher training, focusing on movement science, biomechanics, accessible yoga, trauma-informed yoga, creative sequencing, restorative, and somatic practices.

Additionally, I am qualified as a Reiki therapist, offering 1-2-1 Reiki therapy to channel healing energy for relaxation and calm. My goal is to inspire others to discover their path to fulfilment and well- being, emphasising mindfulness and connection to lead a meaningful life in harmony with the broader tapestry of existence.

True Yoga has grown over the last eight years to serve the community of Market Harborough and beyond, offering accessible classes that bring people together to recognise their true selves and understand their own worth.
